Planet Angel - Live an Ordinary Life in an Extraordinary Way

Before Planet Angel my life consisted of work, work and yet more work. I wasn't into the mainstream clubbing but most of my friends were so I went along as a way of seeing them. Then 7 years ago (5th April 2003 - pretty much to the day!) I met my boyfriend Russell and one of our first dates was going to Zap in Brighton. This changed my attitude about the clubbing scene and fell in love with the music and realised what I had been missing. It wasn't long after that I went to my first Planet Angel.

Over the years Planet Angel has become more than just our clubbing night once a month, about 5 years ago I started volunteering with my friend Ellie doing face and body painting. This then developed into helping the Front of House team. It was a blast working with everyone from running the shop to meeting all the party people whilst doing the list! I then took a bit of a break and went back to volunteering for a few hours a night as a Caretaker, being an Administrator on the forum and organising Glitterfits!

When Russell became a Guest Photographer last year, I started Hosting full time and arranged the bar for the Crew and Contributors Party last year :) Heather then asked me if I wanted to take on the Activities Co Ordinator role. For the X Party I shadowed Heather in her role as this would be her last party working and I would be taking over for the NYE Ball.

On the night of the NYE Ball, there were some absences due to illness so at the last minute I also covered the Head Host role (with help from Pete and the support of the Caretakers).  There were a few changes over the next month which resulted in newly defined Co Ordinator roles. Pete said he thought it would be great if I would consider the Host Co Ordinator role which incorporated the activities side of things too.

So where does that leave me now? Well, I took on board what Pete had said and I am loving the Host Co Ordinator role and each month I work with a fantastic group of people - not just on the Host Team but all the Crew.

The Hosting Team make sure the Party People have loads of creative stuff to do; the Drawing Walls, UV Paint Wall, Magnetic Poetry, Inspirations, I also get to think up workshop ideas and other random fun things.

So where have the last 7 years gone? Blimey it went quick that's for sure which means it most definitely fun!

Looking back I was so ready to give up on the clubbing scene and I have a chance encounter in Dorking to thank for meeting Russell and Russell to thank for introducing me to Planet Angel (7 years on and still together - he also wants me to point out he is the perfect boyfriend as today he remembered to put the wine in the fridge without being asked!)

I also have Planet Angel to thank for making me the person I am today and the opportunities they have offered me.
